About the Consulate

The Royal Thai Consulate Office in Thimphu, Bhutan was established in December 2003. The Consulate has the goal of enhancing commercial, economic and cultural relations between Thailand and Bhutan.

The Honorary Consul plays an indispensable role in Thailand’s foreign relations where diplomatic missions are absent. Thailand’s honorary consul is sometimes the only links between the citizens of that city or country and the Royal Thai Government. He is called upon not only to perform routine consular functions such as the issuance of visas, but also to represent, protect and promote Thailand’s interests, in addition to promoting friendly relations between Thailand and his home country.
